- Laura Moss was born in 1868 in Williamsburg, Virginia. She married William Edmond Powell and lived in Hampton. She died in March 1945. She began writing a history when she moved in to her first house after her marriage in Williamsburg. She wrote of parties, dating, sicknesses throughout her life, keeping a lifetime diary and all hand written.
